It grows in the poorest soil, even clay, because it utilizes atmospheric nitrogen, just like legumes. I had it in my previous yard and have it in the new one. I can’t say enough for the versatile native plant. Whenever I’m asked to recommend a plant for sun or shade, wet or dry conditions, wax myrtle usually pops first into my mind.
